Texas Family Portraits :: The Vaughns

Morning with the Vaughn Family

Texas clients! I love morning sessions. This is a great example. Although we only did an hour, it's a perfect amount of time for kiddos. Anything more than that, and it's hard to keep their attention. If we did this session in the afternoon/evening, I honestly feel like one or more of the kids might have been "off". Nap times, food, heat, you just never know what factors might play a role. So I highly suggest if there are young kiddos, that we shoot for morning time. There are totally exceptions to this, but I think the results are more consistent that way.

What do you think?

*See below for images from the Vaughn Family's morning portrait session in Cedar Park. They have four kids now, just amazing! Each one different and darling. It's been such a pleasure to photograph their growing family over the years!

Enjoy, Addison

Becoming Mr. & Mrs. Thibodeaux

May 6th, 2017

Here are the highlights from Chelsea & Thad's beautiful outdoor wedding at Cathedral Oaks Event Center in Belton, Texas! It was literally a perfect wedding. From sunshine and cool breezes to just a joyful and stress-free time, this couple was surrounded with beauty and love as they became husband and wife!

Congratulations, you guys!

I hope you enjoy reliving these moments together!

Best,

Addison

Words from the bride...

"Thad and I met while in graduate school in 2011 in Galveston Texas. We were paired to be partners for our first practical exam. While practicing we made a deal for whoever lost had to buy the other one dinner. We ended up getting the exact same score! So we split the tab. From there the rest is history. After graduate school we moved to Round Rock, Texas.

Thad proposed on his birthday in downtown Austin at zilker park. I took him to dinner downtown and then he wanted to walk through the park before heading out for

His birthday. That's when he got on one knee and asked the big question. He chose his birthday to do it, one so I wouldn't be expecting it and two because we First said 'I love you' on his birthday 4 years earlier.

We chose our wedding destination to be in Texas because my family is from New Mexico and his is from Louisiana. We thought Texas was the perfect middle for everyone."  (And it was)

Newborn Portrait Tips

Getting Ready for a Newborn Session

*How to best prepare yourself & baby for success!*

  1. An hour before your session start time, please allow your baby to get "milk-drunk". That means, don't necessarily time/limit how long you are feeding. Let them eat as much as they want until they are completely satisfied. Change their diaper, and swaddle loosely in neutral fabric that we can start the shoot in. If you have a hat or headband that is a "must", you can also put this on them before they fall asleep.
  2. After feeding/changing, begin to rock to sleep with lights on. Noisemakers are great for this, along with a pacifier (for some kiddos).
  3. Get the house hot! And I mean this literally. Your baby will be fast asleep, swaddled, happy. But the second you start undressing them, they notice. Unless… the room is warm. Try setting your heater or letting the room get between 80-83 degrees. Yes, we will be sweating, but naked baby will be content and hopefully passed out while we try to change outfits/poses, etc.
  4. Mom & Dad, ready yourself to be in some images at the very end of shoot. My main goal is to capture your baby sleeping. Only after we get those sleeping shots will we attempt the family photos, but I still want you to be ready for this. Even if we as women don't feel pretty because 1) you just had a baby and 2) because you are exhausted and sleep-deprived. Believe me, you are perfect. And your son/daughter will love every image from this period of time where they get to see you holding them. It's priceless.
  5. Relax. As the photographer and baby-poser during this shoot, I will be moving baby around and you just need to be nearby to possibly help watch, grab pacifier, etc. Baby knows Mom's smell, and sometimes just smelling that milk will wake them back up. I will help take care of everything if you let me. It's my joy and my job. I love what I do.
