One of my favorite parts of the photographing process, see the images we capture go into print form. Just awesome! **Make sure you are printing your photos! Digital is a great backup option, but archiving in print, that’s the way to go and share with your children and grandchildren!

Lone Oak Barn Wedding :: Christine + Justin

Wedding Day :: November 25, 2016

at The Lone Oak Barn

Round Rock, Texas

I absolutely love being a photographer, and I love photographing weddings. That said, there are times when being a wedding photographer is HARD work. Just ask any professional photographer. There are reasons we do what we do, and there are reasons we photograph the subjects we choose. Sometimes I would pay to be creative and photograph just one child’s portrait when instead I’m faced with a large, rowdy (possibly disrespectful) crowd and overwhelmingly-large guest count. Let’s be honest, personalities or (cough-cough) alcohol plus personalities definitely add some factors to the whole picture of being a professional wedding photographer. We are there for primarily the bride and groom, but we must also work with and amongst whoever is there attending. Like I said, sometimes this is hard.

However, there are those special, gem-like weddings that might be big, having many guests and numerous wedding-party attendants,
and still they shine above the rest and are overall an absolute DELIGHT.

Christine & Justin, your wedding was a JOY.

I might just go beyond that and say it was PERFECT. Yes, your decor, venue, style were all just beautiful. Well done. But your guests (friends and family alike) were beautiful too, so respectful and simply wonderful to work with and talk with. I never at any moment felt like “the work”…  You two really must be an incredible, loving pair to have such devoted, caring people around you.

Thank you so very much for giving me the opportunity to not only capture your special moments but to also enjoy doing it.

I hope you cherish these wedding highlights below, and I cannot wait to share your full wedding gallery with you soon.

Sincerely (LOTS of LOVE),

How they met…

Christine & Justin met their Freshman year of high school through mutual friends. They quickly became close and referred to each other as best friends. He went to all of her volleyball games, and she went to all of his baseball games. They always supported each other.  As college began, life led them in different directions and eventually they fell out of contact, until Junior year of college when Justin called Christine and asked her out on a date. Although they had crushes on each other when they first met, they know now that they never dated in high school because God had greater plans for them. They had a lot of living and learning to do before He brought them back together!

Words from Bride…

Planning the Wedding

“I am not a “girly” girl. I don’t wear heels often and hair and makeup isn’t exactly one of my talents. Justin and I prefer to spend our time hiking with our pups, camping, fishing, and hunting. We knew from the start that we wanted to get married in our boots and eat our hearts out in BBQ. My Grandpa Voigt has always owned a lake house in Cadiz, KY that looks like a barn. It’s candy apple red and even has a staircase in the silo. I spent all of my childhood summers with my cousins in the barn, and that place holds a very special place in my heart. The running joke in the family is, “I was raised in a barn!” Because of this, I always imagined getting married in a barn, and when we saw Lone Oak Barn, we just knew it was perfect! It was the perfect blend of rustic elegance.  We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed. We just wanted everyone involved to come, pray, eat, and party with us! That’s why the decorations were minimal, and the food and drink was plentiful. For us it was all about spending time with the family who traveled in from all over the country to celebrate with us!”

The Bridal Bouquet

“I don’t know if I told you the story behind the significance of the lone red tulip in the bridal bouquet. In the bridal bouquet there was one red tulip so that I could carry my Grandmother, Mildred Voigt down the isle with me. In 2010 we lost her to Parkinson’s disease. The red tulip is the symbol for Parkinson’s disease. She was an extraordinary woman and an example of God’s love to everyone around her. I just wanted her to be right beside me!”

Words from the Bride:

About the Wedding…

“We are both very laid back, easy going people so we knew we were not going to have a “formal” wedding so to speak. We had a fajita bar as our food. Everyone loves fajitas! My dad’s cousin cooked on site for over 250 guests! My mom made all of the salsa the night before. The food was easy, fun, and delicious! Succulents are my favorite, and of course they fit our country/rustic theme, so I had to incorporate them. My mom spent over a year on growing her little succulent farm and handmade every succulent centerpiece at my wedding. I literally cried when I saw them being set up on the tables a few hours before the wedding. She worked her tail off with making sure all of the succulent ensembles were perfect (which they absolutely were!)

I chose red, teal, and tan as my wedding colors. Red has always been one of my favorite colors, and it fit right in with a fall wedding.
As we wanted a laid back and fun wedding, the bridesmaids wore a cute little denim dress with cowboy boots and the guys worse starched down jeans, button up shirt, and of course cowboy boots.”
Their Love Story…
“Trevor and I’s families have been friends since before we were even born. We knew of each other, but never really talked. He was way more into me than I was him. Trevor’s dad passed away from cancer right after Trevor graduated high school. After that happened our families kind of lost touch.
I moved to Stephenville, TX to attend Tarleton State University in 2012. Trevor came up here to visit my cousin, Jeremy, who was also living here and going to college. (Him and my cousins always stayed close.) Jeremy called me that night and invited me to come hang out with everyone. After talking to Jeremy, I called my best friend, Kayli, to chit chat, I told her about being invited to go over to Jeremy’s, but there was going to be a lot of people and I just really didn’t feel like going. I was still pouting and moping around months later after a bad breakup. I was being the typical girl. Kayli said to me, “Jenna, just go. You never know who you might meet.” I gave her a huge sigh and told her i’d talk to her later. I text Jeremy and said “Okay, I’m coming. Let me comb my hair.” I got to Jeremy’s house and was introducing myself to everyone that I didn’t know. I got to Trevor, held my hand out to shake his and introduce myself because I honestly didn’t recognize him. It had been years since I’d seen him and he both had grown up a lot. He looked at me and said, “Oh I know who you are.”
We hung out that night and had a great time. The chase was on for him. He pursued me so hard after that night. He kept asking me to “just let me take you on a date”. I finally gave in. A few weeks later we officially became a couple.
I guess it was about a month or so into being boyfriend and girlfriend, we were hanging out a friend’s place and they told me what Trevor said on their truck ride back home from when they came up to see Jeremy. Apparently Trevor would not shut up about me the whole 2 hour ride back to their hometown. They were giving him a hard time and he said these exact words to them, “Ya’ll watch. I’m going to marry that girl one day.” He got so red and embarrassed when they told on him for being love struck! It was so cute. I did call him creepy though for telling everyone he was going to marry me haha.
After 2 years of being together, he asked me to marry him. I was outside letting the horses out and going about my day just like I would any other day. When he got down on one knee, I was surrounded by our horses and dogs. It was perfect for me.
I had no idea the man I was going to marry was right in front of me all those years. It is so crazy how things work out.”

The Ranch House at Teravista :: Kathleen + Anandas

One Perfect November Day

11 . 12 . 2016

The Ranch House at Teravista

in Round Rock, Texas

: : :

Set in an historical home, previously known as the Caldwell-Palm House, the bride and groom celebrated their wedding among an intimate group of friends and family.

Not only was the decor a perfect fit, but the weather (something you can’t buy) turned in their favor as well.

The skies opened up, letting the sunshine come through the blue skied openings of the clouds. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Congratulations, Kathleen & Anandas!

I hope you enjoy these highlights from your big day!
