Words from the bride:

In 2013, I was finishing up my junior year of nursing school in Belton, TX. At this point in life, I was stressed with school and just wanted to focus on something else besides textbooks. I had always heard of people finding their spouse on dating websites and I thought, “I have a coupon, why not!”. I went on two different dates before I found my best friend, third times a charm! I remember the first message he ever sent me, “Hey, What’s up?”. My first thought was “Really? That’s the best you got?” Regardless of my thoughts, I proceeded to actually tell him what was up!

Much to my surprise, he responded and he kept responding 🙂

We messaged back and forth for awhile before he asked me on our first date. We got all the details figured out and were set to go however, he forgot one major one….his name! He never told me what his first name was! A couple days later, we met at a popular burger bar in Austin called Hopdoddy. Man, was he handsome! For the first time in my life, I didn’t stutter or say weird things. It was such an easy and most definitely the most comfortable first date that I have ever been on! We met at 7 and talked nonstop until they closed 🙂

Our engagement felt insane and long! We were engaged for about a year and a half and we both were very anxiously awaiting September 3rd. It took us about a month to find our venue. After looking at about 4 other venues all in one day, Camp Lucy was our last tour of the day and we instantly fell in love! Seeing the actual aisle for Sacred Oaks for the first time made me tear up with happiness. We wanted our wedding to be classy but fun at the same time and I think overall we achieved that. I remember the majority of our wedding guests on the dance floor! No one can stop talking about my dad’s dance moves….Classic!

One of my personal, favorite parts of our wedding was the amount of family and friends that had come together to make it such a smooth and easy wedding day. I can safely say that a month after the wedding, we had nothing bad happen/drama on our wedding day. Thanks to everyone, I was able to sit back and “relax” most of the day! Our wedding was perfect and absolutely magical. As a kid, I never thought about my wedding day but even if I did, it would not even come close to what actually happened. So thank you to everyone: family, friends, vendors, wedding party and more for sacrificing your time and efforts to share in our wedding day. Without you, our day wouldn’t have been as special!

Texas Family Portraits :: The Vaughns

Morning with the Vaughn Family

Texas clients! I love morning sessions. This is a great example. Although we only did an hour, it’s a perfect amount of time for kiddos. Anything more than that, and it’s hard to keep their attention. If we did this session in the afternoon/evening, I honestly feel like one or more of the kids might have been “off”. Nap times, food, heat, you just never know what factors might play a role. So I highly suggest if there are young kiddos, that we shoot for morning time. There are totally exceptions to this, but I think the results are more consistent that way.

What do you think?

*See below for images from the Vaughn Family’s morning portrait session in Cedar Park. They have four kids now, just amazing! Each one different and darling. It’s been such a pleasure to photograph their growing family over the years!
